Firstly,
I would like to thank all of the members of the club in allowing the
opportunity to be your Club President for the next 12 months. I feel very
humbled by the enthusiasm and support from all of you thus far. I’m
looking forward to your input and suggestions you may have at anytime which will help me immensely in my efforts in
fulfilling this important role.
It
would be unanimous throughout the club I’m sure, that Wayne Delahoy, our
outgoing president has done a truly admirable job within the position
over the last 3 years and has left some very large shoes to fill!
In
addition, Catherine Campbell, our outgoing secretary, has also done an
absolutely superb job in this role over the last 5 years and now deserves a well earned break for her previous long service.
So,
on behalf of all of the club members, I would like to take this
opportunity to thank both of them for the excellent shape the club is in
today.
Also, a further big thanks to the members of the previous
executive committee for your continued efforts and contributions during
the past year. The results achieved both financially and membership base
wise have been nothing less than fantastic. Well done!
Of
course, none of these achievements would have been at all possible
without your loyal club patronage. It’s always so rewarding to see you
all at every club meeting; in fact, I feel that you are all a part of my
extended family! So, does that mean that Patrice is my twin brother?
A
warm welcome is also in order for our newly elected members of the committee
and I’m sure you’ll find it to be a really rewarding
experience.
Credit
really has to be given to Mark and Vicki Strangwidge
for their hospitality in hosting our most recent meeting at their
home in Orange, NSW on the 23rd May. Everyone I spoke to on
the day had a great time and Mark’s BBQ chef’s cooking skills received
accolades from everyone!
Don’t
forget the next meeting is at my home in Freemans Reach, via Windsor, NSW
on Sunday 15th August @10am. BBQ facilities will be available
on the day and afternoon tea will be provided. The 'theme' of the meeting
is 'Australiana' carnival glass, so bring
those Aussie pieces out of the cabinet for the day’s outing. Please
remember a maximum of three pieces as table space may be an issue. If your planning to come out to the Hawkesbury District
before our Sunday meeting please give me a call on 02 4579 6656 or
0419 796 656 and we’ll organize something in the area on the Saturday
night.
While
I’m on the subject of meetings, please give some consideration to hosting
one of our upcoming meetings in the next 12 months. Also, any ideas you
may have on 'themes' will be quite handy too.
Its so encouraging
seeing our club is still expanding membership wise and this was evident
once again by the presence of two new members, Don and Wendy Pearce from
Lithgow. I spoke to them at the last meeting and they definitely 'share
the passion' for all glass of the 'carnival variety', so on behalf of the
club, to our newest members 'welcome aboard' and we all look forward in
seeing you at our future meetings.
Just
a reminder also that club membership fees are due so try to finalize them
with Ray our club treasurer at the next meeting if you have not already
done so. Club Membership fees, as discussed at our last meeting have
remained unchanged, so $22.00 is still the current amount.
In
signing off, I trust that the coming year will prove to be once again a
very successful one for our club. As a thought for consideration,
anything that you believe can make our club, newsletter or internet
website better. Please don’t hesitate to contact me anytime as I know
your input and ideas will always be greatly appreciated by everyone in
this club.
Kindest
Regards & Happy Glass Hunting,
Your
President…..Maurice Geake
