21 November 2004
Hi
everyone
I
hope everyone enjoyed themselves over the festive season. I know those club
members who were able to join us at the November meeting hosted by John
& Lorraine Friend at Blackheath, NSW certainly did.
On
behalf of everyone who was able to make it to this meeting, I would like
to thank John & Lorraine for the time they both put in making our
November/Christmas meeting such a great success.
Also
thank you to all of those who bought a present along for Santa to
distribute to all of the club members who behaved last year or gave
generously to the club raffles. Santa’s job was made so much easier by
the fact he had someone else’s knee he could sit on whilst he wasn’t
giving out presents. Alan, Santa has you on his wish list for next
Christmas. Just the same, let us all hope that Santa doesn’t give up his
day job!
The
number of club members in attendance at the meeting was good considering
Christmas parties and the like which occur at this time of year, so well
done everyone. Again, let’s see if we can match or improve upon this in
the upcoming meetings, and as ‘Joe the Gadget Man’ used to say “bring
your money with you”, for the club raffle. Many thanks to Wayne for
standing in for Patrice, our club raffle entrepreneur.
The
standard of quality and variations of Carnival Glass that has been placed
on display at the meetings has been extraordinary. It never ceases to
amaze me what incredible finds and bargains are still out there just
waiting to be snatched up by us canny collectors of Carnival
Glass.
Several
topics for open discussion in the ‘General Business’ part of the meeting
included:
- Club
badges, those of which could be worn possibly as a pin attachment,
or in recognition of long term or life members and or exemplary
service to the Carnival Glass fraternity.
- The
purchase of club t-shirts sporting a mutually decided club motif on
them.
- Again, the
silent tender process of bidding for those in the club who wish to
part with those carnival glass pieces no longer needed in their
collection and further utilization of the club newsletter and web
site for saleable items.
- Confirmation
for approval to reprint an Australian carnival glass extract in
colour for our club newsletter.
- An
optional phone listing for those who would like to be on it for
carnival glass collecting purposes was mentioned. Although there
were several issues to be considered before this idea could be
functional.
The
annual club ‘theme’ calendar for this year kicks off with:
Your First Carnival Glass Piece
& Two Favourites

Kindest
Regards & Happy Glass Hunting,
Your
