20 February 2005
Hi
everyone
As
the year nears completion for myself as your club President I would to thank
everyone within the club for making my task so much easier than I ever
thought it was going to be. Your support and consideration throughout the
year has been a blessing to say the least. Every meeting we have had during
the last year has been a huge success and this has been evident by the
excellent presence of club members and the solid financial position the club
enjoys to date.
I would
like to express my special thanks and gratitude to our Newsletter Editor,
Rhonda Delahoy. It would be difficult to calculate how much time and effort
Rhonda has dedicated to the club newsletter over the years but it really
goes without saying a significant amount would be something of an
understatement and I’m certain she and Wayne would also agree. So, Rhonda,
on behalf of the club, we are all extremely grateful for your invaluable
efforts in the past years (and would be more than happy if you could
continue to do so) however, we acknowledge this position is no longer an
option for you.
Whilst
I’m giving special thanks, I also wish to acknowledge to the exceptional
efforts and support our club Secretary, Mark Strangwidge. He has provided
not only myself, but also the club in general, an unwavering dedication to
his position of office in the last year.
Also, to
Ray Rogers, for his continuing financial expertise as our club Treasurer.
Ray has always provided an extremely accurate account of our club’s
financial position for every meeting since as long as I can recall. Well
done!
And too,
our club committee members, who have given their input and time into some
truly excellent concepts and ideas; several of which that will benefit the
club as a whole for many years to come.
The
meeting at Forster/Tuncurry, for those in attendance, was a very pleasurable
day indeed. Once again, on behalf on the club, I would like to give thanks
to Alan & Althea Farrell for their hospitality and the wonderful array of
treats & nibbles that were on offer. It certainly says something of the
level of commitment and generosity shown by our club members who have hosted
these meetings in recent years. It would be fair to say that the standard is
by any measure amazing considering the organization that goes into such an
event.
Some
of the notable issues on the agenda for discussion in ‘General Business’ at
the last meeting included:
-
A
credit- card size membership card.
-
The
finalization in voting of our Club motif.
-
Logistics concerning the orders of t-shirts and badges.
-
Rhonda
Delahoy’s retirement from the position of Newsletter Editor.
Of particular concern to our club, as mentioned at the
last meeting, is the Newsletter Editor’s position being filled. Rhonda has
indicated already that she can provide assistance with regards to articles
and information that can be used in the Club newsletter.
As I expressed at the last meeting, the importance of
this newsletter is essential to the club and would be sorely missed by all
if nobody is willing to have a go. So, once again, I ask all club members,
please give some serious consideration to nominating yourself for this
position if you are able to do so.
Our
next meeting takes place on Sunday, 22nd May 2005 at the home of
Cindy & Kevin Macklin in Tumbi Umbi NSW (Central Coast).
The theme of the meeting is ‘Northwood’ Carnival
Glass.
So don’t forget to bring those pieces out that are bound
to impress all there!
The May meeting is also the club subs collection time, so
please remember your annual fee is now due.
In signing off, I am extremely grateful and humbled by
the experience I have gained by being your club President in the last year.
I look forward to many years of continue friendships within our club
‘family’ and all the rewarding times it has to offer not only myself but
everyone in the club now and in the future.
Your Club President,
Maurice Geake
